Interlake Region
Spray foam insulation in Selkirk and the Interlake
Direct answer
Ecologic sprays closed-cell foam in Selkirk, on the Red River just north of Winnipeg, and up through the Interlake to Gimli and the west shore of Lake Winnipeg. The region mixes year-round homes with a heavy concentration of cottages and lake properties, so our work here spans standard attic and basement retrofits and the full 3-season-to-4-season cottage conversions covered on our cottage page. Same verified specs everywhere: R-11.1 at 2 inches (CCMC 14133-L), installed to CAN/ULC-S705.2.

01 The market
Selkirk is the gateway. The work continues up the lake.
Selkirk sits on the Red River a short drive north of Winnipeg and functions as the entry point to the Interlake, a region defined by its relationship to Lake Winnipeg: year-round communities, a large seasonal cottage population, and everything in between as more owners convert three-season places into full-time or four-season homes.
The climate math doesn't change heading north; the Interlake is in the same National Building Code climate zone 7A as Winnipeg, and the wall and attic targets on our code requirements page apply here as written.
What we install in the Interlake
Attics and basements in Selkirk and year-round Interlake homes.
Cottage and cabin conversions up to Gimli and the west shore.
Crawl spaces and skirting, common on pier-foundation cottages.
Same CUFCA-certified crew and written-quote process as every Ecologic job.
02 Older homes & cottages
Thin walls and pier foundations are the norm, not the exception.
A large share of Interlake building stock, especially closer to the lake, was built as seasonal cottage construction: thin 2×4 walls, pier or post foundations with skirting instead of a full basement, and little or no vapour barrier. Closed-cell foam fits this stock well because it delivers a high R-value per inch in a shallow cavity, acts as its own vapour barrier at 2 inches, and bonds to the rough, irregular surfaces common in skirting and crawl spaces where rigid board and batts perform poorly. The full physics and the conversion sequencing (walls, floor, skirting, water lines, in that order) are on our cottage and cabin page.
03 Scheduling
A short drive from Winnipeg, seasonal access further up the lake.
Selkirk itself is close enough for straightforward scheduling. Properties further up the lake, especially cottage conversions, get scoped by phone and photos first, then booked for spring or summer so the work is finished and cured well before freeze-up.

No different in the Interlake than in Winnipeg. The specs travel with the crew.
04 Questions
Selkirk & the Interlake, answered
Does Ecologic serve Gimli and other Interlake lake towns, not just Selkirk?
Yes. Selkirk is the gateway we drive through, but our Interlake coverage extends up to Gimli and the west shore of Lake Winnipeg, including year-round homes and cottage conversions along the way.
Is insulating a home near the Red River in Selkirk different from insulating one in Winnipeg?
The climate and code requirements are the same (climate zone 7A). What differs is the housing stock, which includes more older and cottage-to-year-round conversions than a typical Winnipeg subdivision, so crawl space, skirting and older-wall retrofits come up more often here.
How far will Ecologic travel into the Interlake?
From Selkirk north through Winnipeg Beach, Gimli and the west shore of Lake Winnipeg. Remote or seasonal-access properties get scoped by phone and photos first so the trip is planned properly.
